Plagiarism Policy

Nova Integrata: Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies (NIJMS) upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and originality in scholarly publishing. All submissions are required to be the author’s own work and must properly acknowledge the contributions of others through accurate citation and referencing.

1.     Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

o   Copying text, ideas, data, or images from another source without proper attribution.

o   Paraphrasing substantial portions of another work without acknowledgment.

o   Presenting another person’s research findings or creative output as one’s own.

o   Self-plagiarism, which involves republishing the author’s previously published work without disclosure or proper citation.

2.     Similarity Check and Screening
All manuscripts submitted to NIJMS undergo plagiarism screening using reputable similarity detection software (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate, or equivalent).

o   The acceptable similarity index is generally below 15% (excluding references, quotations, and commonly used phrases).

o   Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be returned to the authors for revision or may be rejected outright.

3.     Author Responsibility
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work is free from plagiarism and for properly crediting all sources. Failure to comply may result in:

o   Immediate rejection of the manuscript.

o   Retraction of the published article.

o   Notification to the author’s institution or funding body, if applicable.

4.     Editorial Action in Cases of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected at any stage—before or after publication—the editorial board will:

o   Review the evidence and seek a response from the author(s).

Take appropriate action, which may include rejection, retraction, and a ban on future submissions
